 The Boasting Traveler
1. A man who had traveled in foreign lands returned to his own country. He boasted very much of the many wonderful and heroic feats he had performed in the different places he had visited.
பல வெளிநாடுகளைச் சுற்றிவிட்டு ஒரு மனிதன் தன் சொந்த நாட்டுக்குத் திரும்பினான். சென்ற இடங்களிலெல்லாம் தான் செய்த அற்புதமான, வீரதீரச் சாதனைகளைப்பற்றி அவன் தம்பட்டம் அடித்துக்கொண்டான்.
2. "Among other things," he said "when I was at Athens I had leaped to such a distance that no man of my day could leap anywhere near me."
"இப்படித்தான் ஒரு தடவை நான் ஏதென்ஸில் இருக்கும் போது, நான் எவ்வளவு தூரம் எகிறிக் குதித்தேன் என்றால், வேறு யாராலுமே என் பக்கத்தில் கூட வர முடியவில்லை" என்றான் அவன்.
3. "Many people in Athens saw me do it and I can call them as witnesses, if you want" he claimed.
"ஏதென்ஸில் இருக்கும் பலர் அதைப் பார்த்தார்கள். வேண்டும் என்றால் நான் அவர்களிலே யாரையாவது சாட்சி சொல்லக் கூப்பிடுகிறேன்" என்று அழும்படித்தான்.
4. One of the bystanders interrupted him, saying: "Well, my friend, if this is all true there is no need of witnesses. Suppose this to be Athens, and leap for us." |

தெருப்போக்கன் ஒருவன் இடைமறித்து, "நல்லது தோழா! நீ சொல்வது உண்மையாயிருந்தால் அதற்கு ஒரு சாட்சியும் தேவையில்லை. இதுதான் ஏதென்ஸ் என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டு, எங்களுக்காக ஒருமுறை அதேபோல எகிறிக்குதி பார்ப்போம்" என்றான்.
Easier said than done
சொல்லுவது யார்க்கும் எளியவாம், அரியவாம் சொல்லிய வண்ணம் செயல்.
