 The Miser and his Gold
A miser sold all that he had and bought a bar of gold. He buried it in a hole in the ground in the garden and went to look at daily.
ஒரு கருமி தன்னிடமிருந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் விற்று ஒரு தங்கக் கட்டியை வாங்கினான். அதைத் தோட்டத்தில் ஓரிடத்தில் புதைத்து வைத்துவிட்டு, தினமும் போய்ப் பார்த்து வந்தான்.
One of his workmen observed this. He soon discovered the secret of the hidden treasure, and stole the gold.
அவனுடைய வேலையாட்களில் ஒருவன் இதைக் கவனித்தான். விரைவிலேயே ஒளித்துவைத்த செல்வத்தின் ரகசியத்தைத் தெரிந்துகொண்ட அவன் அதைத் திருடிவிட்டான்.
The Miser, on his next visit, found the hole empty and began to tear his hair and to make loud lamentations.
அடுத்த முறை அங்கே சென்ற கருமி, அந்தக் குழி வெறுமையாக இருப்பதைப் பார்த்து, தலையைப் பிய்த்துக் கொண்டு ஓவென்று அழுது புலம்பினான்.
A neighbor, seeing his grief and learning the cause, said, "Please do not be sad; but go and take a stone, and place it in the hole, and imagine that the gold is still lying there. It will serve the same purpose; for when the gold was there, you had it not, as you did not make any use of it."
இதைப் பார்த்த அண்டைவீட்டுக்காரர் ஒருவர் செய்தி என்னவென்று தெரிந்து கொண்டு அவனிடம் சொன்னார் "பரவாயில்லை, நீ வருத்தப்பட வேண்டாம்; போய் ஒரு கல்லை எடுத்து வந்து இந்தக் குழியில் வைத்துவிட்டு, அதைத் தங்கக் கட்டி என்று நினைத்துக் கொள். உன் தேவை தீர்ந்துவிடும். தங்கம் இருந்தபோதும் நீ அதை வேறெதற்கும் பயன்படுத்தவில்லையே!" |
