Article: தேடாமல் கிடைத்த சொத்து
Category: ஹரிமொழி (Jan 2010) Posted On: Apr 10, 2010
Hari, Your series is excellent. When I saw your article about some Naganandhi (whose picture didn't ring any bells), I had decided that it could wait. But in the latest issue, when I saw the picture of an old man looking straight at the camera, I instantly recognized that man as my beloved Tamil professor in AM Jain college. I hurriedly registered online and read all 3 articles so far. I was immensely saddened to learn that he passed away more than 10 years ago. Till today, like the husbands of aged "sumangalis" who had "run away" to Kasi decades ago, he was still living in my imaginary world. Great, great man. He refused to apply some prasadams before going into surgery (between 1987 and 1990) as he was an atheist - a very rare kind of honesty! Luckily for me, I learned Kuyil pattu from him as it was in the syllabus that year. Was amazed by the fact that he could recite the whole poem by heart. All the facts (that he was Naganandhi, plays, stories, awards etc.) that I learned by reading your article, I never knew when he taught us Tamil. Another rare quality. What little Bharati I know, I owe it to him.
