Its too late to comment. But still I wanted to provide my opinion. I like the indepth analysis you have provided. But still, there is a subtle difference in the tamil Ra and english t/d. Air will pass through while pronouncing tamil Ra unlike the english t/d. So, it may be considered they are equivalent. But definitely not equal. So, I prefer the way indian tamils pronounce it. Because, when u hear the word, it will sound similar to the english version, unlike what the lankan tamil is heard.
