The boy and the candy jar
A boy went to the kitchen to take some candies. His mother was away. "If my mother comes, she will give me only a few candies.Now, I will take a handful" he thought.
ஒரு பையன், சில கல்கண்டுகளை எடுக்கச் சமையலறைக்குப் போனான். அவன் அம்மா வெளியே போயிருந்தார்கள். "அம்மா வந்தால் கொஞ்சம்தான் தருவார். இப்போது, நான் கைநிறைய அள்ளிக் கொள்வேன்" என்று அவன் நினைத்தான்.
He grabbed a handful of candies. The candy jar had a narrow neck. So he could not take his hand out.
ஒரு கை நிறைய கல்கண்டுகளை அள்ளிக்கொண்டான். அந்த கல்கண்டு ஜாடியின் கழுத்து குறுகலாக இருந்தது. அதனால் அவன் கையை வெளியே எடுக்க முடியவில்லை.
He tried repeatedly to take his hand out, but failed. As the time went, he panicked and started crying. And then came his mother. She asked him "What is the matter?" He explained his problem.
திரும்பத் திரும்ப முயற்சித்தாலும் கையை எடுக்க முடியவில்லை. நேரம் ஆக ஆக அவன் பயந்து போய் அழத்தொடங்கினான். அப்போது அவனுடைய அம்மா வந்தார்கள். "என்ன ஆச்சு?" என்று அவர் கேட்டார். பையன் சிக்கலை விளக்கினான்.
His mother said "Just take a couple of candies and drop the others." He did so and his hand came out. "I should have thought of this earlier" said he.
"இரண்டு கல்கண்டுகளை மட்டும் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு, மற்றதைக் கீழே போடு" என்றார் அம்மா. அவன் அப்படியே செய்யவும், அவன் கை வெளியே வந்தது. "இதை நான் முதலிலேயே யோசித்திருக்க வேண்டும்" என்றான் அவன்.
"You were greedy, that is why you got into the problem" explained his mother.
"உன்னுடைய பேராசையால் நீ சிக்கலில் மாட்டிக்கொண்டாய்" என்று விளக்கினார் அவனுடைய அம்மா. |
